Jayne Mudd
Jayne has worked as a Specialist Arrhythmia Nurse for the past nine years at the James Cook University Hospital (JCUH), Middlesborough. During this time Jayne has taken the lead role in the Arrhythmia Nurse Specialist Team and has been responsible for developing specialist nursing roles within the multi disciplinary Cardiac Rhythm Management Team at JCUH covering the catheter laboratory, out patient setting and ward areas. More recently she has taken on the role of Senior Arrhythmia Care Coordinator setting up rapid access out reach clinics within the community for patients experiencing or at risk of experiencing arrhythmia.
When first appointed as a Specialist Nurse there were very few nurses working within arrhythmia management in the UK, but the valuable contribution that nurses could bring to this sub specialty was apparent. Recognising this Jayne has constantly striven to develop the specialist nurse role within arrhythmia management at a local regional and national level. Jayne has developed effective clinical networks and raised the profile of this group of nurses nationally and internationally. The introduction of this role has improved the quality of care for patients requiring cardiac rhythm management.
Over and beyond the achievements already listed, Jayne has developed educational courses for health care professionals working within arrhythmia management, and is currently helping to lead the first Masters Level Arrhythmia Management Programme in the UK which is run from Teesside University, Middlesborough.
Jayne is the Nursing Representative on Heart Rhythm UK Council, an active executive committee member of the Arrhythmia Alliance and former President Elect of the British Association of Nurses in Cardiac Care (BANCC).
