Julie Fear
Membership and Administration Officer
Julie has been a volunteer for a sister charity STARS (Syncope Trust And Reflex anoxic Seizures) since 1995, after my own daughter was diagnosed with Reflex Anoxic Seizures (RAS).
After many years of involvement, Julie became a volunteer for the Arrhythmia Alliance when it was formed in 2004. Following this she was invited to take part as a patient and volunteer in Stakeholder events for the revised version National Service Framework Chapter 8, Arrhythmias and Sudden Cardiac Death, which was finally published and launched in March 2005.
As a volunteer Julie has supported STARS in a wide variety of ways including:
Presenting at the Heart Rhythm Congress (HRC) and at the Cardiac Heart Disease Birmingham (CDH),
Raised awareness,
Fundraised,
Supported ArrhythmiA Awareness Week (AAAW),
Reviewed publications and patient support tools,
Assisted at HRC.
Julie is a patient representative on the NICE Guideline Development Group for TLoC (Transient Loss of Consciousness).
Julie has a personal interest in Atrial Fibrillation having been diagnosed with AF several years ago.
In October 2009 Julie was awarded the Charles Lobban Volunteer Award for Outstanding Contribution to Arrhythmia Service.
